The last posting on our Blog, posted on the 28th
April 2013, recorded the final days of our January / February Congo trip and
ended “watch this space!”
Well here we are again!
This time it’s just Janice who is off to Bunia, DRC on her own!
A lot has happened since April 2013, too much to recount in
detail but we enjoyed our usual Lanzarotte holiday in May. We visited our
family and were visited by them!! We
celebrated “significant” birthdays including John’s 80th. (I can’t
get my head round the idea of being 80!!!)
John made numerous visits to the DR Congo embassy to obtain visas for
the WEC folk who were taking part in the other two “Prayer Walks”. The final count of visas was 20! John continues his work for WEC at Bulstrode
but is preparing to hand it over in the not too distant future.
Hospital visits were
thankfully mainly for “check-ups” except for two A&E visits by John; the
first to repair a bad tear on the back of his hand following a fall and the
second because it became infected! Thankfully there was no other damage was
done and there were no lasting effects from the fall. John’s check-up with the cardiologist in
November to monitor his leaky heart valve resulted in a recommendation not to
travel to Africa where he would not be able to receive the treatment needed should he need it.
Hence Janice’s solo trip.
She departs from Heathrow on Thursday 30th and returns on
February 25th. She will keep
me up to date by email, electricity supply and internet connection permitting,
and I will endeavour to post to our blog.
Thanks for your interest.
